چکیده

This study aimed to evaluate the effect of a heat stable phytase derived from Citrobacter braakii on true digestibility of P and on phytate dephosphorylation at the terminal ileum segment in broiler chickens. Four semi-synthetic diets, each containing either wheat, maize, soybean meal or rapeseed meal as the only source of phosphorus and calcium were supplemented with microbial phytase at 1000 U per kg feed and fed along with a non-supplemented corresponding diet. A total of 540, 24-day old male broiler chickens were used in this 4-day digestibility study. A phosphorus-free diet was used to estimate endogenous ileal phosphorus losses. Ileal contents were collected and analyzed, along with the diets, for total phosphorus and phytate phosphorus. Endogenous ileal phosphorus flow was determined to be 37 mg/kg of feed dry matter. When compared to the control diet, phytase supplementation resulted in a significantly (P<0.05) greater phytate P disappearance from the terminal ileum, for soybean meal, rapeseed meal and maize but not for wheat. Similarly, true ileal phosphorus digestibility was significantly increased when phytase was added to rapeseed meal (+24%), soybean meal (+28 %), wheat (+37 %) and corn (+73 %) based diets. It was concluded that microbial phytase supplementation was effective in improving significantly phosphorus digestibility and phytate degradation in the four tested phytate containing feed ingredients.

Phosphorus utilization and characterization of ileal digesta and excreta from broiler chickens fed diets varying in cereal grain, phosphorus level, and phytase addition.

Both intrinsic and exogenous phytase in poultry feeds can alter phytate utilization and the solubility of P excreted. This experiment determined the effects of feeding diets varying in cereal grain, P concentration and phytase addition on phytate and P utilization and P characterization of ileal digesta and excreta. Twelve treatments, consisting of diets based on corn, wheat, barley, or high fa...

Effects of supplemental microbial phytase enzyme on performance and phytate phosphorus digestibility of a corn-wheat-soybean meal diet in broiler chicks

This experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of supplemental phytase in a corn-wheatsoybean meal basal diet on phosphorus (P) digestibility and performance of broiler chicks. 378 one-day old broiler chicks (Ross 308) were allocated to 3×3 factorial arrangements with three levels of phytase enzyme (0, 500 and 1000 FTU/kg) and three levels of non-phytate P (100, 80 and 60% of NRC requ...

Phytate utilization and phosphorus excretion by broiler chickens fed diets containing cereal grains varying in phytate and phytase content

Eighty, 12-day-old, male broiler chicks, were fed one of four diets to determine the effects of feeding grains varying in phytate phosphorus (P) and intrinsic phytase activity on ileal and excreta P digestibility and composition. The diets contained approximately 970.7 g grain kg−1 (maize, high fat–low lignin oat, normal barley or low-phytate barley) with the cereal supplying the sole source of...

Response of Broiler Chickens to Triticale-Based Diets Supplemented with Microbial Enzymes (1. Growth and Intestinal Function)

A total of 384 day-old male Ross 308 broiler chicks were allocated to 8 dietary treatments to examine the influence of supplementation with xylanase and phytase, individually or in combination, in diets based on two new cultivars of triticale (Bogong and Canobolas). The inclusion of phytase alone in either Bogong or Canobolas diets increased (P < 0.01) feed intake and body weight; however, the ...

The effects of offering broilers phosphorus-adequate diets containing 10.0 and 11.8 g/kg lysine, without and with 500 FTU/kg exogenous phytase, on growth performance and nutrient utilisation were determined. Each of the four experimental diets was offered to 6 replicates of 10 birds from 7 to 28 days of age. Effects of treatment on performance, apparent metabolisable energy, apparent ileal dige...
